Meet the Mentor Program Staff

Ann Cowell,
Mentor Program Director

Contact with inquiries about events, donating, or program collaboration: 805-963-1433 Ext. 113 or acowell@cadasb.org

Ann was born and raised in Santa Barbara and is proud to be a Santa Barbara Don. After graduating from high school she went to Brown University where she studied American Civilization and Psychology, and played volleyball. She quickly moved back to Santa Barbara after receiving her Bachelors Degree and decided to volunteer as a Mentor with the Fighting Back Mentor Program. Several months later, she was hired as a Mentor Advocate, and a little over a year later became Director of the program. Ann is passionate about supporting youth through her work as a mentor and program director, and says her favorite part is watching each child flourish with the attention of a caring mentor.

“Sometimes all a child needs is one person who is paying attention and cares just for them. A mentor can be that person and change a child’s life forever.”

Sarah Hernandez,

Sarah was raised in Ventura County; she attended San Diego State University and graduated with her BA in Psychology. She has worked with adults in the mental health field and is excited to empower the lives of young people in the mentor program here in Santa Barbara County.

“A mentor can awaken a child's awareness of their potential and empower them to believe their dreams can become a reality .”
